Quickly adding new aliases to your bash profile

Bash shortcuts can make your workflow really quick.

So here's a shortcut to make adding shortcuts really quick.

Put this in your ~/.bash_profile

source ~/.aliases

and add this in ~/.aliases

alias aliases="vim ~/.aliases; source ~/.aliases;"

If I want to make a new shortcut to take me to my ~/dev folder,

I press aliases and type enter, then I paste this

alias dev="mkdir -p ~/dev; cd ~/dev"

and save and quit using :wq (VIM) and now you can use your new alias immediately.

typing dev should take you to your dev folder from any where in your terminal.
